On the basis of WETLAB passed a master class on endoscopy
November 11, 2017 in St. Petersburg at one of the sites of the Center for Innovative Methods of Medical Education WETLAB with the support of the companies Erbe and EndoStars passed a master class, within the conference "Modern endoscopic technologies in the treatment of diseases of the esophagus."
The mastering of manipulations was held under the control of some of the leading specialists in the field - Alexander Alexandrovich Smirnov and Kirill Vyacheslavovich Shishin.
The introduction into everyday practice of operative interventions performed with intraluminal endoscopy is one of the progressive directions of the development of surgery of the gastrointestinal tract.
The problem of practical development of operational technology is becoming more and more relevant today due to the lack of sites for testing such manipulations.
Today, the WETLAB format, which involves working on biological tissue, is the optimal way to develop surgical technique in operative endoscopy.
The first component of the WETLAB format is the implementation of surgical interventions on isolated biological products fixed in specialized boxes.
For the development of endoscopic interventions, swine organs are used as a preparation, which is due to their maximum anatomical similarity to human.
The use of isolated biologics makes it possible to master the technique and get acquainted with a wide range of operational techniques, but it does not allow to fully recreate
a real picture of the operation, conditioned by the physiological processes inherent in the living organism.
This is justified the need for the second component of the WETLAB format - the implementation of surgical interventions on laboratory animals under conditions of a full anesthesia allowance.
The use of laboratory animals as biological models allows specialists to practice the technique of surgical interventions, in conditions as close to real practice, without risk to the life of the patient.
The master class presented both work on isolated biopreparations and laboratory animals, which allowed participants to fully appreciate and compare all the possibilities of working out operational equipment in the WETLAB format.
According to our experts, this approach should become an obligatory stage in the training of endoscopists.
Conducting such training master classes is one of the priority areas for the development of the WETLAB center.
