September 27, 2016 in the walls of The First Pavlov State Medical University of St. Petersburg hosted a presentation of the cycle of educational courses "Basic surgical manipulations", which was met with a keen interest among future specialists.
The problem of lack of practical skills among specialists in the surgical profile is very relevant today. According to the results of an anonymous survey of graduates of medical universities, only 5.5% of respondents are satisfied with the level of practical training mastered in the volume of the basic educational program.
The current state of affairs is due to a number of reasons, the main of which are the lack of full surgical practice during training at the university due to the inability to create real conditions when using simulators or cadavers and the complication of training in practical skills after the introduction of insurance medicine that does not allow students to participate in operations .
Today, a future surgical specialist does not have the opportunity to get a manual skill that allows him to master operational technology in the proper volume to start working.
The lack of a full-fledged system of training young professionals for practical skills contradicts the concept of a system of continuous medical education that is actively implemented in the Russian Federation according to the order of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation No. 328 of June 9, 2015.
Insufficient level of possession of surgical skills at the first stages of a specialist's work carries serious risks for both patients and young doctors, leading to a high level of stress, risk of breakdown and withdrawal from the profession.
The cycle "Basic surgical manipulations" developed by the specialists of the Center for Innovative Methods of Medical Education, intended for senior students of medical universities, interns and residents, is designed to increase the effectiveness of practical training.
The high efficiency of teaching practical skills is made possible through the training laboratory, where conditions are created in WETLAB format as close to real as possible, and the development of surgical skills is under the close supervision of professionals.
A large number of applications for participation in the courses makes it possible to speak with confidence about the need for young doctors to develop surgical skills.
