The three-day course «The formation of the intestinal stoma and the principles of caring for them» is devoted to familiarity with the types of stoma, the principles of selection and development of techniques for their formation and closure, the main complications and principles of stomatherapy.

The intensive course program lasting 16 academic hours is designed in such a way that each specialist can master the technique of forming and closing the stoma on biological tissue as quickly as possible under the supervision of the surgeon-consultant of the City Center for Rehabilitation of Stomated Patients, the oncoprotekologist Miller Alexander Evgenievich.

The first lesson is devoted to acquaintance with the vascular anatomy of the colon, as a theoretical basis for the formation of the terminal colostomy, the principles of choosing a place on the abdominal wall for optimal functioning of the intestinal stoma. Also, you will get acquainted with the concept of intestinal stoma, indications for their formation, principles of species selection and localization of stoma. Each participant will independently work out the technique of forming all types of stoma on biological tissue using specialized equipment.

The purpose of the second lesson is to get acquainted with the early and late complications of the colostium, their causes and ways of correction. During the practical part of the lesson, under the supervision of an experienced instructor, each participant will become familiar with the indications and timing of the closure of the stoma and will independently work out the technique for its elimination.

The third day of the course is devoted to the basic principles of stomatherapy, familiarity with modern means of stoma care and therapy of frequent complications.

Most of the course time is devoted to practical work with biological material. This approach allows for a short time to master the correct technique of forming and closing the intestinal stoma, which in future will avoid complications in the independent practice of the surgeon.
